High Impact Volunteering

Our greatest resource is our people. Volunteers, more specifically, make sure we can provide the level of services we've been offering to our community for nearly 100 years. These are the people that stuff envelopes for mass mailings; sort items at the Union Mission Thrift Store; pick up coin boxes from participating businesses. These volunteers have a special place in our heart. Quite simply, we don't exist without them.

We're also actively recruiting members of our community to serve in professional volunteering capacities. We call these wonderful and dedicated individuals "High Impact Volunteers." Did you know, for instance, that our "WeFeedPeople" concept came not from our staff, but from a high-impact volunteer serving on our marketing and public relations committee?

If you are interested in donating your time in a professional capacity, we'd love to speak with you. Perhaps you are a lawyer who is willing to donate pro bono services to the mission. Maybe you are a web developer that can assist in web designAre you a medical professional that can offer free health screenings to our guests? If you are any of these (or a carpenter, electrician, landscaper, roofer, etc.), please contact Director of Development Andrew Beckner at (304) 925-0366, ext. 133 or by e-mail to
